Local Interest

No collection of books about Schenectady would be complete without Larry Hart's volumes. Some popular picks of his are:

  • THIS I REMEMBER...GROWING UP IN SCHENECTADY ($15)
  • PICTURES OF THE PAST ($15).

A favorite of ours is BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN THE CITY OF SCHENECTADY ($16.95), a lovely book of photography and prose by Susan Rosenthal.

For a small but comprehensive book about Schenectady, pick up the Images of America book SCHENECTADY by Susan Rosenthal ($18.99).

A classic, AN ENCLAVE OF ELEGANCE by Dr. Bruce Maston ($16.95) surveys homes in the historic G.E. Plot area.

A book about the evolution of our city, SCHENECTADY; THEN AND NOW, by Don Rittner (city/county historian), juxtaposes early and recent photos of familiar locations in Schenectady. ($19.99)

We also carry the NATURAL AREAS hiking/nature walk guides from the Environmental Clearinghouse for ALBANY, SARATOGA, and SCHENECTADY counties. Plus, ADIRONDACK HIKING GUIDES put out by the Adirondack Mountain Club.

Some of our recent acquisitions include:

  • THE ADIRONDACK KIDS #3; THE LOST LIGHTHOUSE
