     The Open Door is Schenectady's locally-owned independent bookstore and gift gallery, serving the capital region for more than 45 years. We carry a wide selection of literature, with an emphasis on children's books and those of local and regional interest, as well as an expansive variety of toys, gifts, jewelry, stationery, personal accessories and home goods.

     Situated in the heart of downtown Schenectady, on pedestrian Jay Street, we're around the corner from Proctors Theatre and countless restaurants!

Harry Rosenfeld will be signing Battling Editor: The Albany Years.

Harry Rosenfeld is the award-winning author of From Kristallnacht to Watergate: Memoirs of a Newspaper Man. He lives in Albany where he is Editor-at-Large and a consultant at the Times Union and serves on the newspaper’s editorial board.

Women of Consequence Cover Image

Greg Wolos will be signing his book of stories Women of Consequence.

Gregory Wolos is a retired English teacher from Schenectady High School. Nearly eighty of his stories have been published in journals. He has received six Pushcart Prize nominations and has received a number of awards for his work. He now resides outside of Boston where his routine includes writing, running, and tending grandchildren.
