Bill Buell Signing Biography of George Lunn

Bill Buell will be signing George Lunn: The 1912 Socialist Victory in Schenectady.

George Lunn came to Schenectady in 1904 to become senior pastor at the First Reformed Church and seven years later was elected mayor of the city as a socialist. During his first year as mayor he created a number of initiatives to help improve the quality of life in the city.

Bill Buell has been a journalist for 41 years. He earned a degree in history from the State University at Albany. He has received a number of awards, including a 2018 New York Press Association award. He was appointed historian of Schenectady County in May of 2019.

Poetry Reading by Michele Battiste from Waiting for the Wreck to Burn and Barbara Ungar from Save Our Ship.

Michele Battiste is a former New York State resident and Open Door staff member. Her poems have appeared in numerous publications, including the American Poetry Review. A finalist for the National Poetry Series, she has received recognition from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Center for the American West. She now lives in Colorado.

Barbara Ungar is a professor at the College of Saint Rose who has taught an ongoing poetry workshop at the Schenectady library. She lives in Saratoga Springs. Her books of poetry have won the Snyder Prize and Gival Prize, as well as other awards. Her poems have also appeared in many publications.
